ANAHEIM – The bats wake up as the Angels plate twelve runs to go along with another great C.J. Wilson outing as the Angels defeat the Giants 12-5, even up this three game series.
Offensive outburst is all I can say.
Recap
Albert Pujols did what we basically expect him to do in the first inning, blasted a three run home run to centerfield. His eleventh home run on the year which gave the Angels a quick three run lead.
Three batters into the game this looked like it was going to be a good night for the home nine.
It was safe to say Zito did not get off to a great start. It took him 35 pitches to get out of the first inning where in the inning he allowed four runs, the Giants had bullpen activity in the first.
Zito was only able to go 3.1 innings tonight, allowed eight runs off of nine hits. So how is C.J. Wilson the most overrated player in baseball when you got Barry Zito making millions when a homeless person probably could come off of the streets for five bucks and pitch better, just ridiculous
The Giants were able to slightly cut into the Angels lead in the top of the second due to some bad defense by the Angels but none of this would come back to haunt the halos.
Albert Pujols continued to be a beast tonight in the second inning as he batted home his fourth RBI on the night with a single up the middle to give the Angels a 5-1 lead. Pujols went 2-3 tonight to go along with two walks.
The Angels bottom of the fourth was almost the nail in the coffin tonight for the Giants, the Angels loaded the bases and Mark Trumbo cleared them with a triple that scored three.
Mark Trumbo went 3-5 tonight and batted home five runs, somebody buy this guy a drink, he deserves it.
C.J. Wilson who came into tonight with the best ERA in the American league really was given a very comfortable lead to work with tonight, he ran into trouble in both the fifth and sixth innings but was able to limit the damage and really prevent the big inning. He was able to get out of the innings with clutch inning ending double plays. He didn’t want to be taken out of the game at the time but the Angels had no choice as his pitch count was at 113.
Wilson went 6.1 innings tonight and allowed three earned runs off of ten hits, allowed five runs but was only charged with three. He pitched great tonight despite the runs he allowed. It got a little tense towards the end of this ball game as the Giants were slowly and surely climbing their way back into this game one hit at a time,
The Angels used Latroy Hawkins, Scott Downs, Ernesto Frieri, and David Carpenter in relief tonight, none of them allowed a run.
Mike Trout, what can you say about this kid? He went four for four tonight and now has the second highest batting average in the American League.
After tonight’s game Wilson still has the best ERA in the American league, Overrated still?
The Angels and Giants conclude this three game series tomorrow night at 7:05 PM, Jered Weaver (6-1, 2.61) will pitch for the first time since coming off of the disabled list, this will be his first start for Weaver since May 29th. Ryan Vogelsong (6-2, 2.29) will take the hill for the visiting Giants. This game will be televised on Fox Sports Net, KLAA 830 for radio.
