
For the second straight night the Angels and White Sox went to extra innings, this time the Angels came out on top.
The Angels’ shaky bullpen struck again tonight as they surrendered a two run lead in the seventh inning but bounced back to snap a three-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory in ten innings against the White Sox Saturday night.
Howie Kendrick knocked home the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth with two outs, Alberto Callaspo doubled and then came around to score on the Howie Kendrick single to give the Angels the advantage going to the bottom half of the tenth.
Kevin Jepsen shut down the White Sox in the tenth to give the Angels their 58th victory of the season, and to maintain six games back in the division.
Ervin Santana actually had a quality start tonight, he gave up three runs (two earned) in six innings of work. The opposing team still was hitting the long ball off of him, Santana surrendered two round trippers in the game — Santana has allowed 28 home runs this year which leads the major leagues.
The Angels scored three runs in the first inning as White Sox starter Gavin Floyd just fell apart, and added another in the top of the second. Albert Pujols launched a solo home run in the top of the seventh, his sixth home run in six games. He now has a total of 24 home runs on the season.
Kevin Youkilis crushed a two-run home run off of Angels’ reliever LaTroy Hawkins in the bottom of the seventh to even up the game at five.
